The tide’s coming in! You’re ready to bring the Crimson Tide into your man cave, but you don’t know where to start. You want anybody who walks in to know that you support the Red Elephants, but Big Al refused to come home with you. You’ll have to rely on some Red Elephant décor instead. Use these Alabama Crimson Tide Man Cave Ideas to make a cozy space to watch the game, and remember to “Roll, Tide, Roll!”
1) DIY High Tide Warning
This first item is probably the coolest Crimson Tide-themed picture I’ve seen. It has both the classic “A” from Big Al’s jersey and the crimson wave that the name suggests. Neat effects like this can be painted on a wall or used as wall art. You can even paint it on bar stools or wooden chairs. Combine it with the slogan “Roll, Tide, Roll” for an effect that really fits the team and shows the power of Crimson Tide fans’ support.
2) Crimson Tide Lego Decoration
Legos are for kids, right? Maybe, maybe not. Lego building has become a sport, and why not join in? This kit’s a unique take on the traditional helmet display; instead of displaying a real helmet, you can make one from legos. Building the helmet is an activity in and of itself, and once you’re done building it you can show off your creation in the man cave. Nobody needs to know it came from a kit.
3) DIY State String Art
When you root for the Crimson Tide, you aren’t just rooting for the team. You’re rooting for the college and for Alabama. Show your team support with some Alabama-themed art. This video shows you how to take any state and turn it into string art. While the video shows a heart in the center, you can put anything you want. If you’re feeling brave, put the team’s “A” in the center. Otherwise, you can just put a simple circle or a heart like the one in the video.
4) DIY The Logo
How can you have a man cave without the logo? This site shows you the Alabama Crimson Tide logos over time. You can print larger copies of these, make stencils, and trace the logo anywhere. This is great for painting the logo on DIY Crimson Tide barstools, walls, or even carpets and floors. If you have a favorite era or miss the days when the logo actually had an elephant on it, go ahead and use logos from each time period to show your love for Red Elephants’ history.
5) Team Photo Collage
Your man cave will have all the decorations that show support for the team, but what about the greats? Those few players that rise above the rest to go down in Red Elephant history deserve a special place in your man cave. This Legends Never Die collage pays tribute to Paul “Bear” Bryant, Nick Saban, and Gene Stallings with their pictures, as well as their stats. This would go great on your own personal wall of fame, or you can put it with your autographed memorabilia and football cards.
6) DIY Etched Glass
I’m sure you saw “DIY” in the title and thought that etching glassware sounds like a professional job, not the do-it-yourself job the title implies. With this tutorial from This Old House, you can make a professional-looking design at home. Try etching the Alabama “A” in some mason jars, and once you’ve got that down, you’re ready to etch the logo into your nice bar glasses. You can even etch your windows using this method.
7) DIY Custom Signs
Signs are a big part of man cave wall decor. You’ll have some photos or framed jerseys, but your signs are a great way to customize your man cave and say something about all that other wall décor. This video shows you how to make your own wall signs at a low cost. Since you’re making your own, you can choose the exact look you want, or just go with the current Crimson Tide logo.
8) Thematic Wastebasket
Whether you have a big man cave with a full bar and gaming nook, or a small room with barely enough room for a TV, couch, and microwave, you’ll want snacks and drinks in your man cave. Unless you want the man cave to look like a pigsty, you’ll need a garbage can. Instead of throwing a spare can in the room, or buying the cheapest one you can find, make it part of your decor. This trash can is Crimson Tide themed, so it’ll fit right in with the rest of your fan cave.
9) Big Al
Never forget that Crimson Tide is only one name for this team. They’re also known as the Red Elephants, and how can you have a Red Elephant man cave without Big Al? There’re many ways to include Big Al in your man cave. You can hang photos of him, though he may have a little trouble signing them in that suit. Frame his jersey like you would a player’s to get some attention and create a conversation piece.
10) Diploma Display
Maybe you’re just a fan of the team, and that’s okay. They’re an awesome team. That said, if you’re a graduate, or plan to be, this next idea is for you. This diploma display is made just for University of Alabama diplomas, and it’s team-themed to fit right in your man cave. Show everybody that you aren’t just a fan of UA; you’re a part of their legacy, even if you never played on the team.
11) DIY Logo Coasters
A man cave is always better with a bar, whether it’s a snack bar, wet bar, or any other type of bar you like. If you have a nice, Red Elephant-themed bar, you don’t want to mess it up with sticky glasses and condensation. Even if you don’t have a bar, coasters are a good way to keep furniture from getting messed up. With this tutorial, you can learn to make coasters with team logos, and make your own Crimson Tide ones.
12) Throw Blanket
You want to be as thematic as possible, but painting the entire room in team colors could be a bit out of your price range. It’s also a lot of work, and it’s a very permanent way to do things. If you don’t have the money, time, or means to paint the whole man cave, you’ll want larger thematic touches. Believe it or not, a thematic throw blanket like this one can be tossed over a couch to make the room look a lot more like a Crimson Tide man cave.
13) Crimson Tide Football Display Case
Since you’re rooting for a football team, it’s only right that you have a few footballs around. You probably don’t want to display that autographed game football by tossing it in a storage bin or trying to balance it on a shelf. Instead, use this football display case with the team logo on it. It’s a much more attractive way to display the football, and the ball will be safe from rolling, falling, or getting knocked over.
14) Puns
Wait, is this the wrong kind of Tide? We were talking about the detergent, right? These football fans became famous when they wore Tide detergent costumes to a game as a joke. If you want to add some humor into your man cave and confuse people who don’t quite have the same sense of humor, this is certainly a way to do it. Put up one or two framed Tide boxes around the man cave and see if anybody notices.
15) ‘Bama Country
Your man cave is ‘Bama country, and you’re proud of it. Make sure others know they’ve stepped foot in Alabama territory with this Crimson Tide-themed stop sign that warns people to stop because they’re in ‘Bama Country. This lets them know what your theme is before they even enter the room, and invites them to stay, watch a game, shoot the breeze, and talk dirt about Auburn. You can hang this up on the door, or in a prominent place in the man cave.
16) DIY Pool Table With Logo
Does your fan cave have a pool table? Would you like it to? Billiards are great to have around, and they make your man cave a destination spot for your friends. While you can easily get a pool table with red felt to fit the team colors, take it a step further by adding the team logo to the pool table. These instructions tell you how to add a logo to the pool table felt, though you can also hire a company to do it.
17) Custom Picture Frame
While you’re always rooting for your team to win, your favorite game was that one when you got a photo with one of the players after he signed your football. Now the football is displayed, but the photo is just sitting in your cell phone’s memory, waiting until you get a new phone and it fails to transfer over. This customizable picture frame is Red Elephants’ themed, with the team logo and a place to put your name. Print that photo and display it in your fan cave using this frame.
18) Signed Footballs and Memorabilia
If you have memorabilia, it’s a shame to let it sit in closets or boxes because you don’t know how to display it. You have a man cave, so get some shadow boxes with UV resistance, and make sure your friends and family can see that signed football you’re so proud of. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a shadowbox, just get a ring you can mount on the wall, and sit the football inside the ring for an easy DIY football holder.
19) Football With Alabama “A”
If you don’t have signed memorabilia, you can still display footballs and gear in your man cave. This football from Amazon has the Alabama Crimson Tide “A” on it, so you can still show who you’re rooting for. Since it isn’t a one-of-a-kind autographed ball, you can display it anywhere, or even sit it on the couch for your buddies to chuck around when they get bored. Though you may want to ask them to take it outside if you have anything fragile in the room.
